  1. Pearson’s correlation coefficient was used to compare extent for all modalities (CEM, ultrasound and mammography) to definitive extent from the postoperative histopathological report. Pearson’s correlation coefficient measures the strength of the monotonic relationship between continuous data and may lie between − 1 and 1. 0–0.19 = very weak, 0.2–0.39 = weak, 0.4–0.59 = moderate, 0.6–0.79 = strong, 0.8–1 = very strong
