Macroscopic evaluation of wound adhesion of reconstructed abdominal wall at 24 weeks. (A) Overall, poly-p-dioxanone (PDO) mesh had a significantly lower gross wound adhesion score than Marlex mesh (*P < 0.05). (B) All PDO meshes became completely degraded at 24 weeks postsurgery with easily detachable adhesions to the peritoneum and the omentum. (C) Marlex mesh showed extensive dense adhesions to the omentum and the visceral organs, including the omentum and the colon.
