(a) In January 2009, initial upper-gastrointestinal endoscopy disclosed mid-esophageal type I tumor measuring 2.5 cm × 2.5 cm. (b) In April 2009, follow up after first course of chemotherapy with S-1 and cis-diamminedichloroplatinum, upper-gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed scar lesion instead of tumor; no further lesions were identified.
