Long bones:

In addition to plain film features:

 

• Radiolucent

• Calcification may be visible

• Low signal intensity on T1-weighted images

• Lesions may be large

• Septations may be visible

• High signal intensity on T2-weighted images

• May be expansile

• Lobulated

• Heterogenous enhancement (Gadolinium)

• Geographic lesion with a sclerotic rim

Small bones (e.g. feet):

• Osteolytic with “scalloped” bone erosions

• Bone expansion

• Coarse trabeculation
