This is not a comment on the content of the study. It is rather a comment on the extent to which said study is performed. Is it possible that the peritoneum would be cut out with the tumor in order to make clear margins. If so, could the regeneration cells around it be damaged so much by surgery and possibly radiation and/or chemotherapy wafers or IV therapy to the point where the missing peritoneum could not regenerate itself. If revision is possible for this article, I would suggest including this in the background or conclusion.
